A Great Responsibility To Keep Your People Informed

As a leader you need to protect the people under your charge.

You need to keep them informed. Timely communication is crucial during an incident.

Unfortunately, we are all facing environments where school and workplace violence is on the rise.

Natural disasters, medical emergencies, accidents, fires, weather issues, and isolated incidents all need to be responded to.

Don’t live in a world where evil and misfortune go unchallenged.

Be prepared to take a stance and have an emergency notification plan in place that will work when it really matters.

Have you done enough

Are We Vulnerable With Our Existing Notification Plan?

A good leader stops and asks, “Are we vulnerable?”

If an incident was to happen todayright now, would the people important to you be vulnerable?

Warning people and giving them the maximum amount of time to respond goes a long way toward keeping people safe. To see an example of a failed communication plan, check out the Parkland Shooting Case Study.

Do We Have the Right Systems For An Emergency?

Are you able to communicate quickly and easily to respond in an emergency situation?

What systems do you have in place to alert the right people, with the right information?

Do you need more than just notifications? Should you automate an overhead paging announcement, automatically turn on emergency strobe lights and digital signage. How about securing unlocked doors and warning surrounding buidings as well. An advanced emergency notification system like Vigilance Software can do all that for you.

Should I Be Doing More?

This is not always an easy question to answer, but you need to answer it now BEFORE something happens.

The lives you are protecting are worth fighting for.

Performing a security risk assessment and vulnerability accessment is obviously your first step. Understand your current capabilities and how you intend to handle each scenario. Look for weakness in your plan and determine what things you can do to improve them.

ems incident response

How will you feel on the far side of an incident?

In the aftermath of an emergency situation, there will be a lot of questions.

Scrutinizing and self-evaluation are part of the process along with a post-incident review.

Questions will arise such as:

  • Were you properly prepared?
  • What worked and what didn’t?
  • What can be learned from what happened?
  • Do you need to revise plans and policies?
  • What are the implications of what just happened?

Systems Integration

No Systems Integration

What Is Systems Integration?

Think of it this way.

You already have fire alarms in your schools and businesses.

Responding to a fire with systems integration means when the fire alarm is tripped, our system automatically detects it and send the alerts to the right people.

OR during an active shooter situation, systems integration means as soon as the shooter is spotted, an emergency alert is sent in seconds AND we automatically send the security access control system into lock down mode securing doors quickly.

You never think seconds count, until they do.

Systems integration is the ability to tie your existing systems such as your fire alarm, fire doors, security access system, etc. into the Vigilance Software Emergency Notification System.

Doing this allows you to control the other systems automatically from the software.

Do I need systems integration?

It depends, and only you can decide which solutions is right for you. But don’t worry, we are here to help guide you in making the right decision.

Some clients need a fully developed and integrated robust emergency notification system that leverages all their existing systems for maximum security and response.

Other clients need a notification system that focuses on fast, easy and reliable emergency alert notifications without tying into other systems.

We don’t believe in a one size fits all solution when it comes to something as important as an emergency notification system. We are here to guide you through the process and help you make the right choices.

Which Systems Can You Tie Into?

We have the ability to integrate with fire alarm panels, fire doors, access control systems, SIP based communication systems such as phones, overhead paging, loud speaker systems, mail servers, active directory, and digital signage.
